Case is 43mm in diameter (not including the repeater slide or crown) and 12.3mm thick. It is well-proportioned, and while the watch is large, it is elegant and very handsome. Cast in 18kt Rose Gold on an excellent, padded dark brown IWC strap with 18kt Rose Gold IWC deployant buckle. Dial is silver with finely embossed rose gold Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial.

The caliber in this watch is magnificently rendered, aesthetically and mechanically. The purity and clarity of the repeater tone is a sound for the ages. The manual winding Caliber 95290 has 54 jewels and is adjusted to 5 positions. The tasteful finishing of the caliber is a beautiful sight to behold.

The minute repeater, which, because of its level of horological complexity, is built far less frequently today than the tourbillon, for example, is the most emotional of all the watch complications. Not only is it a feast for the eyes, but it is also music to the ears and penetrates directly into the realm of human feelings, where it strikes very archaic chords.

Making the actual time audible and measurable once again, in the same way as the tower clocks with their striking mechanism, adds a quality to the perception of time beyond a fleeting or even lingering glance at the dial. Limited Edition of Only 250 made.

Acoustic Signs of the Time. It took 50,000 hours to develop the highly complex minute repeater strike train for the Grande Complication and the Portuguese Minute Repeater. It is operated by an eye-catching repeating slide on the left-hand side of the case and chimes out the time in crystal-clear tones: the hours on the lower-pitched of the two gongs, followed by a double strike on both gongs for the quarters and finally a single strike on the higher-pitched gong for the minutes.

Every gong is individually handmade and carefully tuned for pitch and tonal purity. The all-or-nothing piece, as it is known, ensures that the mechanism will never chime out an incomplete and thus incorrect series of acoustic tones even if the repeating slide is released too early.
