Christophe Claret is a Swiss luxury watch brand. Christophe Claret himself was born in Lyon in 1962. At a young age, Christophe Claret discovered a passion for the mechanics of time. His passion was born in 1976 at the workshop of a watchmaker restorer and he spends over a year disassembling and assembling horological mechanisms in order to clean and service them.

He entered the Geneva Watchmaking School in 1978. After graduating he continued his training at the Roger Dubuis watchmaker-jeweller to subsequently set up his first watchmaking workshop at a family-run establishment in Lyon specialising in restoration. 1987 was a year of revelation after meeting Rolf Schnyder, owner of the Ulysse Nardin brand, who placed an order for 20 San Marco minute-repeater calibres with jacks. His passion and drive was born, and two years later he established Claret Manufacture.

In just a decade, his name became a benchmark in the field of complication movements, with his customer base growing. From 2002 to 2008, Claret Manufacture pursued its expansion, today employing approximately a hundred employees in about thirty different professions.

Also working on behalf of third parties, including his own private clients, Christophe Claret produced watches in his own name, often unique pieces for collectors. Initially a sideline business, it came into its own in 2009.

To date he has devised and executed 68 unique complicated movements. In celebration of 20 years of watchmaking, Christophe Claret designed the DualTow, a mechanical concentration of his watchmaking skill which heralded the grand complications of the future. Manually wound movement, power reserve up to ± 60 hours. Display of the watch is skeletonized, Grey back ground, with cut jewels (that match other trim colors of the watch) around the periphery of the dial with Arabic numerals on dual tow belts, Rudy red hour markers and indexes, on minute track at outer rim. Red hands in subdials and second hand at center. Hour and minute display on belts - Small seconds on the tourbillon at 6 oclock - Single-pusher planetary-gear chronograph - Mechanical striking mechanism sounding each change of function (start, stop and reset) - 12-hour, 60-minute and 60-second chronograph counters - Operating mode indicator of the chronograph. AN EXTREMELY RARE AND UNIQUE OVERSIZED SINGLE-PUSHER PLANETARY-GEAR CHRONOGRAPH WITH STRIKING SYSTEM AND TOURBILLON WRISTWATCH WITH TWO ROLLING BELT INDICATORS.... The most fundamental aspect of this watch is the way it keeps time via a belt drive system. As you can see in the pictures, there are two rubber belts with embossed numbers that run vertically on either side of the case one tells the hours, the other tells the minutes.. A large opening on the left side allows a view of the pulleys that drive the hour belt. On the right side, a smaller opening between the pusher and the crown offers the same view. Tourbillon: - Swiss lever escapement - Balance oscillation - Tourbillon rotation frequency: 1 revolution/minute. The tourbillon rests in the lower part of the dial, while the planetary gear based 12 hour chronograph resides in the top portion of the case. The planetary gear used for the chronograph is similar to a column wheel. Then there is the DualTow portion of the watch used to tell the time. It is really much like a 5 minute clock in the sense that the time is digitally displayed to the nearest five minutes. The minute and hours are placed on two rubber belts (in many color options) that are pulled by the movement. (once the reserve is met). This is due to the high cost of the items we have for sale.
