A lovely boxed solid silver condiment set, consisting of an open salt, a pepper, and a mustard pot, by the Birmingham silversmith Suckling Ltd. The salt and mustard pots both have blue glass liners. They all stand on four feet and have wavy edges. Hallmarks : The set is English Silver hallmarked for Birmingham with dates between 1940 and 42 (anchor, Lion Passant, Date Letter Q/R/S), The maker's mark'S Ld' refers to the silversmith Suckling Ltd. Dimensions: The salt has a 5.7cm width, is c.
3cm tall and weighs 33.5g (excluding glass liner) It is hallmarked for 1942 (date letter S). The mustard pot is c. 5cm high (including finial) and c. 5.5cm wide (excluding handle) and weighs 49.2g (excluding glass liner) It is hallmarked for 1942 (date letter S). 7.7cm high and weighs 40.7g.It is hallmarked for 1941 (date letter R). The spoons are 6.5g and weigh c3.3g each.
They are hallmarked for 1940 (date letter Q). Total silver weight (not including the blue liners) is c. Condition: The set is in good condition, with no splits or repairs. The blue liners fit slightly above the lip meaning the lid doesn't shut completely on the mustard pot.
The tip of one of the spoons is slightly bent. The lining in the lid of the box is a little dirty. Recorded 2nd Class: FREE (this will not insure the item, but the parcel can be traced and it will be'signed for'). We always post items in new packages and pack them securely.
