Andy Warhol - Sandro Botticelli, Birth of Venus FS II. This signed and numbered print by Andy Warhol depicts his 1984 four-part portfolio, "Details of the Renaissance: Birth of Venus Complete Portfolio" FS II. "Birth of Venus 318" is a screenprint from Warhol's "Birth of Venus" (1984) suite, inspired by Botticelli's famous 15th-century painting. The "Details of Renaissance Paintings" collection revisits multiple works of art, including Leonardo Da Vinci's "The Annunciation, " Piero della Francesca's "Brera Madonna, " and Paolo Uccello's St. Warhol created four prints focusing solely on the Roman goddess of beauty and love.
Unlike the original artwork, which includes other mythological figures, Warhol cropped the image to draw attention to the goddess' facial expression. He gave Venus the Pop art treatment, portraying her as a star of the modern age. In doing so, Warhol simultaneously paid homage to the past and emphasized the significance of contemporary culture. The "Birth Of Venus" series was produced in a limited edition of 200, and the actual print number will vary from the pictures listed. These plate signed prints are in excellent condition and delivered unframed.
